It Turns Out That the Secret Buyer of ATMOS 6X6 SPH from Israel is Colombia

WorldTekhno.com – As previously reported, it is still a mystery who is the buyer of ATMOS as disclosed by Elbit Systems with a $102 million contract for the sale of the ATMOS artillery system, but now the Colombian Ministry of Defense has confirmed the purchase of the ATMOS 6X6 155 mm. SPH (Self Propelled Howitzer) produced by Elbit Systems of Israel.

Earlier there were indications that in early January 2023 it was reported that the Colombian Army would obtain 18 ATMOS units from Israel, Army Recognition reported (21/4).

It said the ATMOS for the Colombian Army would be based on the chassis of the Czech Republic’s Tatra T-815 truck.

The vehicle is armed with a single 155 mm/52 howitzer that can fire all NATO standard ammunition with a maximum firing range of 30 km.

It can also fire Extended Range Full Bore Base Bleed (ERFB-BB) shells with a maximum firing range of 41 km.

In its combat mission, ATMOS can carry up to 27 projectiles. It offers a rate of fire ranging from 4 to 9 rounds per minute.

The system is manned by a crew of four. The vehicle’s cabin is armored and resistant to 5.56 and 7.62 mm caliber bullets and the impact of artillery shell fragments.

The vehicles can also survive mine and improvised explosive device (IED) explosions.

For crew comfort and safety, the vehicle cabin is equipped with an air conditioning (AC) system and NBC (nuclear, biological and chemical) protection.***
