Türkiye Drops F-35 Development After Choosing Russia’s S-400

WorldTekhno.com: Turkey is considered to have deviated by purchasing the Russian-made S-400 air defense system, a weapon highly feared by the United States and its allies, even though Turkey itself is a NATO member.

The United States has repeatedly offered Turkey the opportunity to return to the F-35 aircraft development project and acquire 100 F-35s, on the condition that it hand over the S-400s to Washington.

Turkey has demonstrated a firm stance that has strategic and decisive implications, and could also trigger internal tensions within NATO. With this decision, Turkey was expelled by the US from the joint development project for the fifth-generation F-35 aircraft.

The S-400, also known as Triumf, is an advanced air defense and anti-ballistic missile system developed by Russia. This system is designed to protect strategic targets from air attacks, including fighter jets, cruise missiles, ballistic missiles, and unmanned aerial vehicles (drones).

The S-400 is renowned for its versatility and long range.
This system can shoot down targets up to 400 km away. Its missiles have varying ranges, allowing the system to engage a wide range of threats from varying distances.

The S-400 can engage and destroy a wide variety of air targets, from aircraft and cruise missiles to ballistic missiles. Some versions of the missile are even designed to counter stealth aircraft by reducing their stealth capabilities.

The system is equipped with a sophisticated radar that can track up to 300 targets simultaneously and engage 36 of them.

The S-400’s components are mounted on wheeled vehicles, making it a highly mobile system that can be quickly moved and set up in different locations.

Main Components

The S-400 system consists of several main components that work in an integrated manner:

  • Command and Control Center: This is the brain of the system, coordinating all units.
  • Long-Range Acquisition Radar: This is used to detect targets from a distance.
  • Missile Launcher: This consists of a vehicle that carries and launches missiles. This missile can use several types, such as long-range missiles (40N6E) or medium-range missiles (48N6E).
  • Missile Engagement Radar: Functions to precisely track targets and guide missiles to their targets.

The S-400 Triumf is considered one of the most lethal and advanced air defense systems in the world. This system has been exported to several countries and is a crucial component of their air defense strategies.***
